Day 12 - Kugger to Covernack - 29 Mar 18
After the long walk yesterday, https://membury.blogspot.co.uk/2018/03/day-11-portleven-to-kynance-cove-28-mar.html the last thing i wanted to do was another walk.
I had a headache all night and every part of my body below the hips ached.
The weather forecast was rain from 1pm so I thought I would of got away with it.
Of course, I did not and Linda got her way (As always).
So we left our nice dry and warm caravan to face the elements.
The peninsula in the distance is about half way on this walk.
Kennack Sands below, hope Ann Hughes can reminisce some more.
For the first 3 miles I was dwelling on not getting my way, so I decided that if I could not say anything positive I would not speak.
Well nothing was spoken for the first 3 miles.
The path was horrendous with constant mud with little routes around, it didn't take long before I had wet feet....still not happy.
Then I slipped managing to remain stood up with the help of a bush, but it was a thorn bush so I now have another splinter. (still not happy).
Then too add insult to misery I could see a black storm cloud approaching, luckily I found a rock formation that provided some shelter, so we sat down there for about 20 mins until it past.
For some reason this lightened my mood, I can never stay angry with Linda to long and she knows it.
As you can see below there were more rain clouds fast approaching.
Around about 1.5 miles away from our destination we found this (Above). It was unlocked and warm and dry. The black heavy clouds teased us in the distance. So wasting about 20 mins to see which way the clouds went we made a dash.
The clouds getting closer and closer at our backs.
We failed, the clouds caught us and down came the heavy rain with no shelter available.
In the rain we came across these obscure statues (see below) If it was not raining heavily at this point we would of took more photos and explored but the heavens had other ideas.
As we approached Coverack with the rain heavy I sped up in excitement.
And yes I fell again, this time managing to only put one hand on the floor and getting back to my feet. (Linda just missed it on the photo but you can see me getting back upright)
Eventually after another diversion, we hit Coverack, where we found the pub and chilled out whilst we waited for our taxi to return to the caravan.
This is the last one for a while, I have decided that coastal paths when wet is not a good idea.
I expect we will do a few local ones to Yeovil for the next few as I have no other holiday available.
Until next time....

Sheltering from the rain. (actually just before it hit, as when it did we had full weather gear on). |
Shelter and a Bird Watching point. |
