Day 6 - Sidmouth to Seaton - 05 Aug 17

Day 6 - 5 Aug 2017.
With the social calendar busy and the weather stopping a couple of planned walks, it has been a while but we managed to get out and complete another leg of our challenge.

This one was easy to organise as I knew a reliable bus route was between Seaton and Sidmouth.
One last check of the weather which assured us we would be rain free, so off we went, leaving home at 0730hrs and arriving in Seaton at around 0840hrs.
Now I had done my researh on Parkopedia and the cheapest car park for all day was £9 but as we approached it, I noticed some free spaces along the road, no yellow lines nor parking limitations, so we dumped the car there.
A nice walk for ten minute walk along part of the Coastal Path to Marine Place Stop B and catch the 9A to Sidmouth. My online research stated £3.20 each but in reality we were charged £3.60 but not a bad price.
We managed to get the front seat on the top floor of the double Decker which was nice with some great views.
Leaving Seaton on the Double Decker
As Sidmouth had it's Folk Festival on, there was some strange characters getting on the bus.
After just over 30mins we arrived at Sidmouth, greeted by Kevin (my Boss) who kindly bought us a coffee from a coffee shop.
Kevin then escorted us to beach and the beginning of our trek.
Unfortunately the weather decided to go against all forecasts and the rain came down heavy, we took shelter in a gift shop and waited 15 mins for it to pass.
Waiting for the storm to pass.
Walking after the heavy shower

And so it begins
Before shot.
The 1st climb out of Sidmouth
As we were fresh the 1st climb was hard and I was panting as normal, however it was achievable.
And the views from the top were worth it.

We soon realised this walk although only just over 10 miles was as identified by the South West Coastal Path guide as Strenuous to Severe. It lived up to this description. Linda kept referring to them as humps, but I don't think a hump is fair description, as I could jump a hump.
As we walked we tried to think of a fair description with mountains being to severe a word, in the end we gave up and humps it was.
Photos from the 5 humps below.

One more 10 min shower nearly caught us out but luckily we were going through some trees which helped give us shelter.

Eventually at Beer we came across the 1st and only pub between the start and finish, The Anchor. So we had a beer in Beer.

Both Linda and I, ached after this walk, it may be shorter than normal but not taken lightly. Hard going.
Until the next one!
